Worcester Wolves v Manchester Giants
University of Worcester Arena, Hylton Road, Worcester, WR2 5JN
Friday, October 19, 7.30pm

THE Giants head to Worcester on Friday night looking for their second win of the season – and coach Danny Byrne says his men are raring to go.

After a weekend off, Byrne is keen for his men to make amends for a lacklustre showing against Surrey Scorchers the week before.

The Giants started the season brilliantly with a win at Sheffield and arguably should have won against the visiting London City Royals the following week.

But their performance was against Surrey was a disappointment and Byrne said: “We were lethargic. The players know now that they have got to step up all game every game and they are desperate to get back out there and put it right.

“That aside, we have had a reasonable start to the season and we have had a good week of training and everybody is fit and well.”

What Worcester lack in size, they make up for in three-point shooting – the Wolves have taken more shots from outside the arc at a better conversation rate than any team in the BBL so far.

And though they have lost their last three since winning on the opening night against Plymouth, Byrne added: “They are not a big team but I don’t think they are as bad as their record suggests and they are very dangerous from the three-point line.

“We have to defend that well and if we do we should be all right.”

Giants are eighth in the BBL table with a record of played three, won one. Wolves are ninth with played four won one.
