Manchester Giants coach Danny Byrne has bolstered his backroom staff by bringing in experienced coach Ploutos Vourliotis as his assistant.
The 51 year old former England international had a 10 year pro career in the UK, Austria, Germany and Cyprus, winning a BBL Championship with the 1994-1995 Sheffield Sharks. He played his college ball between 1989 and 1991 at Southern Nazarene University Oklahoma & Dekalb Junior College in Atlanta.
Vourliotis is keen on the development of players technically and brings experience of coaching at the Trafford Basketball Club, Manchester Magic & Manchester University. This experience working with younger players will tie in well with assisting Byrne, whose new look squad has an average age of 23.
Vourliotis said: “I’m very excited about getting involved and seeing the new team up close. The club has recruited well and I believe we can surprise a few people this season. I can’t wait for us to get started.”
Coach Danny Byrne said: “Ploutos has been well known on the Manchester basketball scene for a very long time, and I’m glad to give him the opportunity to step up to the professional ranks. He knows what we are trying to do, and has a big contribution to make”
