Manchester Giants have re-signed Ingus Bankevics from Leeds Force.

Bankevics, 32, went straight in to the team for Sunday’s derby victory at Cheshire Phoenix.

The Latvian was a former fans favourite at the Giants but sat out the whole of last season with a knee injury.

He then moved to Yorkshire over the summer, but returns to Manchester to bolster coach Danny Byrne’s squad.

Bankevics said: “I’m really happy to be back. Living in Manchester, it makes my life a lot easier and I can spend more time with my family.

“I know a lot of the players and the coach from last year, so it was an easy decision.

“It was a good start and a big win over Cheshire. We played well but we can be better.

“I’m really happy after yesterday’s game and I will try and help the team to get as many wins as possible this season.”
