The Manchester Giants are delighted to announce that Lloyd Gardner will be joining the club as the new head coach until the end of the season with a view to making it a long term appointment in the summer.
Gardner is one of the brightest basketball minds in the UK, with the experience of guiding the Barking Abbey academy for 13 years as “Director of Basketball”. During this time they won many national and European accolades (including winning NBL Division One playoffs in 2015 along with the coach of the year award) and set the standard for young player development in the UK.
Alongside this, he has been involved in various roles in the GB set up, including under 20’s Head Coach and assistant to the senior side as well as a period coaching the London City Royals in the British Basketball League (BBL) where he won the Molten Kevin Cadle BBL Coach of the Month for September/October 2019.
Jamie Edwards said “I’m delighted to make this appointment, we’ve got a coach who comes highly recommended, he’s ambitious and is coming to Manchester to work with a talented group. Lloyd has a history of bringing through talent and that fits with what we want to achieve in Manchester long term.“
