Martaveous McKnight leaves

The Manchester Giants can confirm that due to personal reasons Martaveous McKnight has left the club.

The 6’4 guard from Memphis came in from the Bosnian league with OKK Sloboda Tuzla where he averaged 11 points and 3 assists shooting 40% from beyond the arc. Prior to this he was drafted in 2019 by the Delaware Blue Coats, the G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers after a glorious college campaign with the University of Arkansas Pines Bluff where he averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals a game.

Head Coach Lloyd Gardner added “Tay was great around the group. He fitted into our style very well but basketball is only one part of everyones life. I thank him for his contribution to the season and wish him all the best.”

Since joining the Manchester Giants he has been a pivotal player in the Giants backcourt and contributing on different levels every night. He averaged 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in the BBL cup and 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in the BBL Championship.

“If this was just about basketball he would still be here. Such a great young man who we felt fitted into what we are working towards on and off the floor. What I liked about Tay - He played the game and kept it simple.  Really good teammate on and off the court and a great person to go with it.” said Jamie Edwards

We wish Martaveous the best of luck in the future.
