Phoenix 99-88 Giants

The Phoenix took this one at a packed out ESPV with a strong travelling following from Manchester.

The game had a break-out performance from Jack Hudson who used his duel with Parker Jackson-Cartwright to announce his arrival on the BBL scene.

The Phoenix led for most of the encounter but the Giants displayed a steel and a resilience that has been much in evidence in recent weeks, the Phoenix never feeling totally safe in their lead.

Bankevics led the scoring on 43% free throw shooting, also sinking 3 of his 9 3pt attempts. Allie Fullah continued to impress bagging eleven points in his limited minutes, whilst Elksnis continued his mini revival being one rebound short of a double-double with 13pts and 9rbs.

It was at the defensive end that the Giants will need to improve as the Phoenix’s pick and roll basketball caused problems for the whole game, but you get the impression that if the Giants can crack that nut, then the first win won’t be too far away.
