The Manchester Giants are 2-0 in this year’s BBL, as they bested the Glasgow Rocks 86-66 – a third double digit win in a row at their new home in Belle Vue.
After a close call on Friday night against Bristol, the Giants were determined to put in a better offensive performance, and they certainly did just that against the Rocks, only falling behind once in the entire game. It was also a good night for Danny Byrne’s side from beyond the arc as they shot 50% from 3 point range, just two days after not registering a single 3 pointer away at the Flyers.
Three players made at least 20 points for the home side, with Lyle Hexom scoring 26 along with 8 rebounds. Breaon Brady starred once again with a double-double, scoring 20 and making a gargantuan 16 rebounds, and Jordan Whelan offered yet another valuable contribution from the bench with 22 points and 5 rebounds.
The game also saw a cameo from the returning Allie Fullah, who has recently rejoined the team after leaving his club in France and will provide more strong competition for places on the court.
Despite the large margin of victory, Glasgow were highly competitive for most of the game and kept themselves in it with excellent transition scoring, but they fell away in the fourth quarter as the Giants continued to pile on the points.
‘’Defensively we’ve been very strong, both games. It was a hell of a grind out win on Friday. The guys putting in that performance today especially bruised and abit beat up is unbelievable’’. Said Coach Danny Byrne.
The Giants return to league action next week with a tough double header, as they travel to Worcester on Friday 11th December, night to face the Wolves, before a home game against the Newcastle Eagles on Sunday 13th December.
