JHP_8186 copyTHE Giants head into tomorrow’s play-off second leg in Sheffield just three points down.

Despite an off-night on offence, the Giants did sterling work on defence to give themselves a chance of grabbing a place in the final four.

The Giants were edged by just a point at 16-15 in the first quarter and had a strong second to go in at the break 36-33 up.

A misfiring third for the Giants saw the Sharks take a 56-46 lead into the fourth and the Giants had a strong final period to close the gap to just three.

David Aliu (pictured) led the Giants with 16 points while Rob Marsden had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Callum Jones hit 10 and Stefan Gill had 9.

The Giants held Mike Tuck – who hurt them in the Good Friday clash – to 6 points, while BJ Holmes had 15.
