Manchester Giants v Worcester Wolves
Where: George Carnall Leisure Centre, Kingsway Park, Urmston, M41 7FJ
When: Sunday, February 3, tip-off 5pm
What: BBL Championship
The Giants have a double-header weekend – part two of which sees the club play the first game at our new home at George Carnall Leisure Centre on Sunday.
Danny Byrne’s men face a tough trip to Leicester on Saturday night, fresh from beating the Riders in the Trophy last month.
Then, after five years at the Sportsdome, we move a mile or so down the M60 to our new venue.
The capacity is slightly lower than at our former home, but we expect the space – and the fans – to generate a better game-night atmosphere. Get your tickets early – see below.
We welcome the Wolves, who at the time of writing, are bottom of the BBL standings with a single win. Giants are ninth with an 8-8 record.
For the home clash vs the Wolves buy online here – Adults £12, Concessions £9, Junior £7, Family £30.
You will be able to pay cash on the day, though tickets are subject to a £2 increase.
What the coach is saying
Danny Byrne: “It’s a new start in a new venue for the second half of what has been a good season for us so far.
“The club have been working to get the venue ready for the opening night but I’ve been focused on the team. We have a small squad and James Jones’ injury is a blow for us, in terms of his leadership as well as his playing ability.
“But we have done some good things this season and we want to do more. Riders will be tough, as usual, and we won’t be taking Worcester lightly on Sunday – they have some talented players.
“We’ll be going all out for another win – it would be great to see a full house for our first game at George Carnall to cheer us on.”
