The Giants saw off the Leicester Riders on another night of high drama at George H Carnall.

After beating big guns Newcastle Eagles by a point the last time out at their new home, they got the better of the reigning champions by two points to move up to seventh in the BBL standings.

And the victory came, in big part, thanks to another huge performance by American forward Willie Clayton.

He recorded a now ubiquitous double double of 25 points and 20 rebounds and came up with a last-gasp game-saving block to stop the Riders’ Tim Williams levelling the score in the dying seconds.

The game was nip and tuck throughout with the first period 14 points apiece and the Giants 37-32 up at half-time.

It was our best defensive performance

They went into the final period 65-63 up and held their nerve to extend their lead, then hold off the Riders’ fightback.

Mike McCall capped a composed display with 15 points and Torry Butler hit 11.

The Riders had won their last seven, but fell to 17-5 with the Giants, for whom Yorick Williams returned with a gritty defensive contribution, boosting their top-eight hopes by moving to 11-12.

Yorrick – if I can add some defense and be around the guys I'm happy to help.
