THE Giants gave their play-off hopes a huge lift by beating reigning champions Leicester in a Wright Robinson thriller.

The Riders were boosted by the return of Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan and point guard Ant Downing.

But the Giants put together a great team performance led by David Aliu’s 28 points to pull off a superb victory.

Leicester took the first quarter by 24-21 but Giants had a half-time lead of 54-46 and led by as much as 14 in the third as they poured in 33 points to go into the final peiod 69-59 ahead.

They maintained their composure down the stretch when Jay Couisnard tied the scores at 86-86 with a little over a minute remaining.

However Aliu made four free-throws in the dying seconds to seal the win.

Rob Marsden also weighed in with a fantastic 16 points and 13 rebounds and veteran Yorick Williams added 20 points against his former team.

James Jones had 12 assists to go with his nine points.
