THE Giants ran out of steam against a talented Raiders side after a long trip to the south coast.
Coach Jeff Jones used just six players with Iker Amuchastegui and Keith Page unavailable and Mike Bernard and Callum Jones not yet recovered fully from injury.
And it told as the Giants surrendered a 45-40 half-time lead following a tough third quarter.
The Giants scored 28 points in the second period to come from behind and lead at the break.
But they managed just nine to Plymouth’s 28 in the third as tiredness kicked in and, despite a better fourth quarter, the damage was done.
Dave Aliu led the Giants with 18 points in 40 minutes, while Yorick Williams had 17, James Jones 13 and Rob Marsden and Stefan Gill 10 each.
