THE Giants slipped out of the BBL Cup after a brave fightback effort fell just short.
Sheffield started the stronger and built a 16-2 lead in the first quarter before the Giants found their feet.
Yorick Williams’ men narrowed the gap to 22-13 after a quarter and 38-33 at half-time.
They went into the fourth period 63-54 down and clawed their way back.
Williams got them to within a point at 78-77 with a big three but Giants could not edge their way into a lead and the Sharks sealed it from the foul line in the dying seconds.
Stefan Gill (pictured) led the Giants fight with 26 points, including 16 in the third quarter.
Giants: Gill 26, Williams 16, Haggith 10.
