THE Giants went down fighting in Sheffield – and will be out to secure a place in the play-offs by beating London Lions on Sunday.
A battling performance saw the Giants come back from 23 points down to just three behind the Sharks.
But they couldn’t quite overhaul their high-flying hosts and must now pull off a win in the last game of the regular season.
The Giants were 22-14 down after a quarter and 46-31 behind at half-time as they found Mike Tuck tough to handle.
But they hit back in the third to go into the fourth 60-54 down.
The gap was closed to three but the Sharks held on to keep their noses in front.
James Jones led the Giants with 19 points, while Dave Aliu had 15, David Watts 12, Callum Jones 11 and Stefan Gill 10.
Tuck bagged 23 for the Sharks.
