Sydney comes to Manchester!

Manchester Giants are delighted to welcome guard Sydney Hunter ahead of the Women’s British Basketball League home game against Cardiff Met Archers this Sunday.

The 24-year-old American arrives after spending a season playing in the Australia NBL with Maitland Mustangs, where she averaged 14.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

Born in Salem, Oregon, Hunter went to San Diego State University where she played alongside her new Giants team-mate, Myah Pace.

Sydney said: “I’m so excited to be apart of this team and really glad to be here. I look forward to getting to work and playing with this group of girls. Going to be a fun season!”

Before her season in Australia, Hunter played professionally in Turkey for Karsiyaka, posting some impressive numbers, including six double-doubles in nine games.

It’s the second weekend of the new Women’s British Basketball League season, with Cardiff Met Archers the visitors to the National Basketball Performance Centre on Sunday, for a 2pm tip.

After this weekend, the next women’s home game is scheduled for Sunday November 19 against Sheffield Hatters, which will form part of a double-header with a men’s game.
